The King of Thailand is the most revered person in the country. He has mostly ceremonial duties. It is illegal to say anything bad about anyone in the royal family. It is illegal to purposefully damage bank notes (the King’s image is on it). It is unlawful to post stamps upside down (the Kings image)! You must stand while the national anthem of Thailand is played (such as movie theaters).
